Medications
Colorado Heart and Body Imaging is an early detection imaging center
and does not get involved with the prescription of medications. However,
we commonly advise doctors and offer advice to patients about the correct
roles of cardioprotective medications.
In addition, our onsite physician consultative service will often make
more direct suggestions about various medications that can be helpful
in the prevention of heart disease.
The relevant drugs are cholesterol lowering medications called statins,
niacin and fibrates, anti-hypertensive medications and ACE inhibitors
like ramipril (altace). Your own physician is in the best position to
advise about the roles of these medications by taking into account information
not generally available to our center.
For more information about some of these medications, go to such sites
as www.heartinfo.com,

and www.niaspan.com.
Daily baby or adult aspirin is a valuable medication to consider especially
if there is any evidence of plaque. Ask us about aspirin resistance
and a special urine test to determine whether aspirin will fully work
for you.
